China's vegetable export status quo and its strategy

Time:2024-04-23 16:05:15

In recent years, China's vegetable exports have been growing year by year, with increasingly diversified export varieties and expanding export markets. The increase in global demand for vegetables and the accession to the WTO have provided new opportunities for China's vegetable exports. But China's vegetable export business is still full of problems. Such as single product structure, poor quality, vicious competition between exporters, the international vegetable market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and so on. Therefore, China urgently need to rationalize the vegetable export management system, optimize the product structure, improve product quality, promote the process of vegetable industrialization, the development of e-commerce, the implementation of green marketing, the introduction and training of professional marketing personnel for vegetable exports, and vigorously expand the overseas market, expanding vegetable exports.

China's vegetable exports have increased year by year since the 1990s. Especially after 1993, the export volume of vegetables increased year by year.In 1998, the export volume of vegetables in China was more than 30 times of the import volume, and the export amount was more than 50 times of the import amount. In 1999, the import and export trade volume of vegetables in China reached 2.865 million tons, and the import and export trade amount reached 1.86 billion U.S. dollars, of which, the export volume was 2.005 million tons, and the export amount reached 1.19 billion U.S. dollars. In 2000, the export value of agricultural products in China reached 1.3 billion U.S. dollars. In 2000, the export value of China's agricultural products reached 13.54 billion U.S. dollars, of which 3.146 million tons of vegetables were exported, with an export value of 2.034 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 15 percent of the total export value of agricultural products. Vegetable exports have become a bright landscape in China's agriculture. Obviously, the vigorous development of China's vegetable exports will help to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand in China's vegetable market and solve the problem of surplus rural labor, thus promoting the development of China's economy.
